I read Paul Buchheit's blog regularly. He recently spoke at Startup School. There were a bunch of good talks (see them all in a cool viewer here: http://omnisio.com/startupschool08). There is a moment in his talk ( http://omnisio.com/startupschool08/paul-buchheit-at-startup-school-08/26:18) during Q&A @ 1:48

"Q: OK, so now with FriendFeed [his current startup], you're thinking about hiring, what's that inflection point where you actually now want to bring in other people on your team, you know, take the leap with trust to bring in, hopefully, other talent, so ... [audio funniness]... [low audio for another 15 seconds]..."

PH: "You're saying, 'when to do you decide to hire?'"

And then he goes on to answer the question. He boils down this long question into 7 words. I'll bet his programming code is crisp and to-the-point too.
