I regularly enjoy Nick Carr's writing. Like many writers that I enjoy, he's insightful and witty.

Additionally, he's really a writer. I don't mean "he's written books" but that, beyond presenting information, he has skill in the craft of presenting. He is able to skillfully paint a vivid mental picture of something relatively obtuse in few words. A great example is his recent blog post on cloud computing: On the trail of the itinerant computer.

Bill Thompson noted has that ... the ability to shift data and data processing effortlessly across borders, the "computing atmosphere" may get very foggy very fast, with the cloud turning "into a miasma ... heavy with menace." Through the noxious mist, Thompson can even hear hounds baying.

That quote sampled from a post that is otherwise fairly technical in its discussion of cloud computing & the problem of national borders and hard-to-answer question of "Where is the computer?"

Another recent article of his - on the Atlantic: "Is Google making us stupid?"

Also, check out the "Greatest Hits" sidebar on his blog for other good reads.
