I used to commute on a train where I would read. Sometimes I miss the time spent thinking & reading. I used to use AvantGo on my Windows Mobile-powered PocketPC (I've run through 5 PocketPCs to date). The AvantGo service takes content on the web and reformats is for the small screen. It worked great and beat the newspaper or even a book (though I did read books on occasion as well).

The other day I fired up my iPhone perused through my usual list of content to review (after emails & tasks):

  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • A few blogs

It hit me that that is a dramatic shift. No major corporations are behind that content. It's all "user generated content." It's less about large corporations "producing" and more about people "sharing." This isn't exactly a revelation but the mental juxtaposition of the content on my current mobile with the previous content on my previous mobile device was surprising.

You could argue that the line is blurry on blogs (as to whether that is a consumer or a producer). But that there is content that blurs a line is new.
